The Inquiries
When controversy about the reasons for war in Iraq resurfaces from time to time, the government is quick to point out that four separate inquiries have looked into the issue and – in its view – cleared it. Four official inquiries have indeed considered the dossier, although none of them had it as their main subject matter. But the government withheld from each of them the truth about the dossier, that its spin doctors were on the inside of the drafting process.
The Foreign Affairs Committee inquiry took place during June and July 2003 and published its report The Decision to go to War in Iraq on 3 July 2003.
